San Marcos, CA – Shofu recently held a lab training course that focused on superior aesthetics through waxing.  The hands-on course, held at Wornson-Polzin Dental Laboratory in Mankato, Minnesota, highlighted the importance of shape, symmetry and texture on smile design.

Participants in “Esthetic Contouring”, taught by Joe Weisz, BS, CDT, focused on two powder build-ups using Vintage Art porcelain stains and Vintage Halo porcelain, which in addition to its natural aesthetics, offers extremely low shrinkage, precise color match, high compressive strength and excellent stability of margin edges.

Weisz, a Certified Dental Technician since 1982 who is a former Co-Director and instructor at the UCLA Master Dental Ceramist Program, author and current owner of a commercial dental lab, conducts courses for ceramists and dentists who seek to upgrade their skill levels in creating natural-looking anterior restorations.

Shofu believes that an understanding of the influence of texture and contour at the waxing stage is beneficial, as it ensures more realistic and lifelike restorations.  With the completion of this course, technicians can expect to achieve superior aesthetic results when working with Shofu products like Vintage ZR Press Over, Halo or Ceramage.

Participants included Linda Stamereilers, Jessica Krels, Kyle Schweim, Tom Zimmerman, Karen Rasmussen, Mike Youngren, Chad Stevensen and Ernie Pettengill.
